Insulin is well-known to fibrillate and aggregate in aqueous solutions.  Boston Protein Solutions has successfully prohibited zinc-free insulin aggregation, and keep insulin in agitated solution for an extended period of time at elevated temperature.  This insulin solution does not have any potentially toxic ingredients, and can be used for insulin injection, insulin pump, nasal spray and aerosolized inhalation as a form of fast-acting insulin delivery.

Boston Protein Solutions is also pursuing spray-dried monomeric insulin powder for pulmonary delivery as an alternative to FDA approved Exubera.
